Caring for your goats
Before buying goats there is a few things you will need to organise...
FENCING
We have chicken wire fencing with an electric wire at chest height to prevent them from rubbing along the fence and an electric wire down the bottom to stop them from crawling under the fence.
Ideally it is great to have at least two paddocks for your goats, so you can rotate them every couple of months.
SHELTER
You will definitely need a shelter for your goats as they will need to get out of the wind, rain and keep warm at night. Depending on the amount of goats you have, their are a wide variety of shelters you can use.
Calf hutches, Children cubby houses and large dog kennels are all good examples of shelters that can be used. You may like to add Straw or Rice Hull's for their bedding in the cooler months but be sure to clean out the shelter regally.
FEEDING Our Does
Our Does have access to top quality Oaten hay 24/7 and get fed a scoop each of hard feed mix in the evening which includes: Oaten/Lucerne chaff, Barastock goat muesli, Livamol, Seaweed meal, Apple Cider Vinegar, Dolomite, Pre soaked cracked Lupins and Sugar Beet.
Feeding Our Bucks
Our Bucks also have 24/7 access to top quality Oaten hay and get fed a scoop of Oaten/Lucerne Chaff with Livamol and Apple Cider Vinegar mixed through it.
Care for our goats is taken very seriously! We do not feed our bucks any sort of grain as they can contact a urinary calculi infection which can lead to death.
Our goats also always have 24/7 access to a mineral block "Go Block", which we keep inside their shelter.
When show season is approaching, our show team gets fed with our special show feed mix which contains lots of different supplements.
